Vietnam is among the five most popular destinations for Japanese tourists this summer, according to the results of a survey conducted by the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA).
JATA said that the survey was given to at least 312 travel companies who voted on the top ten most popular destinations for Japanese tourists this summer.
The results show that Asian nations enjoy advantages over nations from other continents as they take up eight spots in the top 10 list.
Southeast Asian countries saw a remarkable improvement with three nations including Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore entering the list of the top five most popular destinations.
The Pacific island chain of Hawaii beat Taiwan (China) to become the most popular tourism destination for Japanese people this summer. Thailand secured third position, while Singapore and Vietnam rose one place to fourth and fifth position respectively in the list.
The remaining places in the top 10 were made up of Hong Kong (China), the Republic of Korea, the island of Guam, and Italy, while China and the Philippines ranked 10th in the list.
